Less than two months ago K had brain surgery to relieve symptoms from Chiari Malformation. Before the surgery he was tired after simply climbing the stairs and zapped for energy early each morning. Headaches were frequent and debilitating. While his headaches aren't completely gone yet, they are definitely few and far between.
For Christmas this year, I bought him the best sled ever made (LLBean's Sonic Snow Tube). I told him that I chose this present...first because it's fun...but second because he can use it now! 8)
Today we put the tube and the success of K's recent brain surgery to the test! Here are the results...
We are funny and serious, organized and messy, quiet and noisy. We are parents and children, guitar players and singers, soccer players and tap dancers. We love family movie nights and playing in the park, swimming and hide-and-go-seek, bike rides and dancing. We love pancakes and bacon, pizza and ice cream, duro wat and injera. We’ve traveled to the beach and up mountains, through hospital corridors and pediatric intensive care units, to the streets of Ethiopia and to our own backyard woods. We are unique and diverse…and God lovingly knit us together in ONE FAMILY!
Our 8 year old is a lover of family, friends, science, and music! He is also developing into a very talented trumpet player!
Our sweet 6 year old is thoughtful and generous! She is equally happy playing with her dolls or inventing spy games in the woods with her brothers!
Our 4 year old is full of energy! After being trached until May 2008, we remind ourselves daily that his loud shouts and noisy sound effects are truly miraculous!
Our 4 1/2 year old Ethiopian-born son is full of joy! He can most often be found with a big smile on his face and a toy car in his hand!
In the spring of 2010, our unborn baby Blessing went home to live with Jesus. We take comfort in knowing that we will finally meet someday in Heaven!
Our 11 years of marriage have led us on an unpredictable, exciting, and often very noisy journey!
